César Chávez was a Mexican American farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist whose work has led to numerous improvements for union laborers. He is considered a hero for farm laborers and is hailed as one of the greatest American civil rights leaders. His birthday, March 31, has been declared as César Chávez Day.
In recognition of this holiday, many groups across IUPUI and the Indianapolis community are planning events to celebrate his legacy.
