The Center for Service and Learning involves students, faculty and staff in educationally meaningful service activities that mutually benefit the campus and community.
The mission for the Center for Service and Learning (CSL) is to involve students, faculty, and staff in educationally meaningful service activities that mutually benefit the campus and community. CSL is organized as a coordinating partner of the Consortium of Learning and Scholarship with the Director reporting up through the Executive Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Faculties. The history of CSL began in 1993 with a focus on service learning course development; four offices have been established to coordinate a variety of campus-community programs. The budget is primarily supported through the reallocation of campus funds to achieve the campus mission of civic engagement. IUPUI has gained national recognition for its commitment to and scholarship on service learning and civic engagement.
