Broad Ripple Village Broad Ripple Village boasts a thriving art scene and street life with shops, historic buildings and parks in charming, walkable neighborhoods nestled between beautiful greenways and waterways. By night it pulses with the beat of the most original music venues and destinations in the city of Indy.

A mere 15 minute drive from the IUPUI campus, around the intersection of 62nd and College Ave, Broad Ripple Village is an excellent place for students to gather and relax. A great selection of Music, Food and Dancing make this area well worth the trip. Numerous venues provide music nightly including most notably the Patio and the Vogue.

The Canal & White River State Park The Canal and White River State Park is Indiana’s museum and cultural attractions corridor. The 250-acre park and canal feature a world-class zoo and gardens, tremendous art, history, recreational leisure and sports, all showcased along beautiful waterways.

Nearly surrounding the campus of IUPUI, the Canal and all the attractions of White River State Park almost seem like just another part of campus. The Canal begins just South of Military Park and winds through the heart of downtown Indianapolis providing beautific paths to walk, bike or skate on or for the water-lovers there are also paddleboats available. At its starting point it is directly connected to the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indianapolis Zoo, White River Gardens and the Riverview concert area. At the far end of the canal lie some IUPUI's newest additions to the Life Sciences initiatives.

Fountain Square Fountain Square is an historic neighborhood with a town square and central fountain like a European village. This thriving artist community blends retro and new art influences in its architecture and style creating a funky mix of independent, one of a kind destinations.

Roughly a mile into the Southeast Quad from downtown is where one would find Fountain Square nestled into its historic neighborhood. Make sure to take the time to enjoy a few frames at one of the city's last duckpin bowling alleys.

Indiana Avenue Head west in Downtown and discover an area unlike any in the city - an area where history, music, restored neighborhoods and spirituality come together to showcase Indianapolis's rich African-American heritage. Welcome to Indiana Avenue, the anchor of the district that stretches between the Central Canal and White River, encompassing many neighborhoods and IUPUI.

Within walking distance to the North of the IUPUI campus, Indiana Avenue is home to the Madam Walker Theater, the cancer survivors memorial, a several businesses, historic neighborhoods and Lockfield Apartments. Perhaps more important to a students everyday needs, there is also a wide selection of restaurants where Indiana Ave crosses 10th Street. The food selection there includes Qdoba, Pizza Express and many more choices.

Mass Ave Mass Ave is the arts and theater district, drawing creative people to its eclectic offerings of live theater and music venues, trendy galleries, shops and restaurants. It’s a corridor where people live/work amid memorable urban architecture and style, alongside the city’s most historic and urban neighborhoods.

While certainly a healthy walk from campus, this district of downtown Indy is a quick trip by auto or bike. Aside from being known as the theater district, it should be noted that this area also contains a fantastic collection of local restaurants, specialty shops and galleries and plenty of sculptures lining the bricked sidewalks. All of these features together make this area perfect for a relaxing stroll or an exciting time any day.
