The 3rd Annual Shave the Date Carnival will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, in the lower level lounge at the IUPUI Campus Center.
This carnival-themed event will include “Pie your Professor," head shaving, games, prizes, music and food. All IUPUI faculty, students and staff are welcome, as well as members of the local community.
This event is designed to raise awareness for the IU School of Medicine Class of 2014 the Annique Wilson-Weekes Scholarship of Excellence, as well as promote cancer awareness.
A beloved member of the IU School of Medicine Class of 2014, Wilson-Weekes died from a rare stomach cancer after her first year of medical school in 2012. A non-traditional medical student, she enrolled in medical school over age 30 with two children and eight years’ experience working in a research lab at Purdue University. The proposed scholarship would also go towards a student with “deep financial need” and a history of academic excellence and work in the field of medical research.
