About This Event

Summary

In any course, the syllabus is a critical tool for helping students understand the overall structure of the class and how to get started. In an online course, however, the syllabus is even more important because it may be the first communication that students receive from the instructor and will help to set the tone for the rest of the semester. In addition, the syllabus for an online course may include additional information such as etiquette expectations for online discussions, guidelines for communication, and an explanation of how the instructor will interact with students via the course website or other tools. In this session, participants will learn about ways to best orient students to an online course through the syllabus. Participants are encouraged to bring a syllabus and related introductory materials to revise.
