Presented by Pete Hylton, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology Motorsports, by its nature, will always involve an element of risk for both the participant and the observer. However, significant advances brought about through Motorsports Engineering across the past decade have increased the level of safety for everyone involved. Design changes in the vehicles, at the tracks, and in driver safety equipment, have all played an important role in these improvements. Students and faculty in the Motorsports Engineering program at IUPUI are actively involved in design and analysis efforts aimed at furthering this trend in an effort to further improve the survivability of crashes on the racetrack, with developments that may ultimately translate to safer cars for the street. 5:40 p.m. – Presentation, Q & A to follow There is no charge to attend the event.
