The sixth annual meeting of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Hine Hall Auditorium on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis.
This event is open to everyone who wants to learn more about Indiana CTSI activities over the past year as well as how they can benefit from the institute's many programs and resources.
The keynote speaker will be David Hickam, M.D., MPH, director of the Clinical Effectiveness Research Program at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), where he is responsible for developing PCORI's research program that evaluates comparisons among alternative clinical strategies in a broad range of clinical domains. He is also the founding director of the John M. Eisenberg Clinical Decisions and Communications Science Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, which develops innovative approaches for helping people use evidence-based information to participate in decision making about their health care.
A former professor of medicine at the Oregon Health and Science University and co-director of health services research and development program at the Portland VA Medical Center, Dr. Hickam has 30 years of experience as a health services researcher with a focus on strategies for improving health care outcomes among adults with chronic diseases.
Other speakers from the Indiana CTSI-affiliated institutions of IU, Purdue and Notre Dame will be announced on the Indiana CTSI website. A scientific poster session to highlight Indiana CTSI researchers, trainees, services and institutional partners, plus a number of exciting breakout sessions, are also scheduled.
To submit an abstract for the scientific poster session, please visit this page no later than Monday, Sept. 8. All relevant posters will be accepted up to the maximum capacity and should be no larger than 4' X 4'. There will be awards for best poster presentations.
