The Spirit of Medicine Reading and Discussion Program has issued a call for applications from for year four of the reading and discussion program available to interested IU medical students and residents to commence August 2014.
Medicine deals not only with the human body but also with the human spirit, and excelling as a physician frequently requires knowledge, experience, and skill in both domains. This program includes monthly evening meetings to discuss seminal readings and meet with thought leaders in spirituality and medicine.
Meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the campus of IUPUI. The program is led by Richard B. Gunderman, M.D., Ph.D., of the IU School of Medicine, and Emily Beckman, DMH, of the Medical Humanities-Health Studies Program in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI.
Applications should include contact information, details about educational background and current IUSM status (year in school and campus) in addition to a one page statement of interest explaining in detail why the applicant is interested in the program, and how participation might make a significant difference in the applicant’s future in medicine.
Complete applications are due to email@example.com by Tuesday, July 1.
