Join us for our first Violence Against Women and Human Rights Study Group with regular seminars to follow on the first Tuesday of each month, beginning on Tuesday, November 3. These will be brown-bag lunch meetings at noon in Cavanaugh Hall Room 438. The purpose of the study group/seminars is to learn of one another’s interests and to exchange ideas, including possible research projects. David Ford, Director of the Institute for Research on Social Issues will present “Cross-Cultural Informal Controls for Violence Against Women,” at the first seminar on November 3.
Violence against women is a Global Public Health and Human Rights problem. The Institute for Research on Social Issues (IRSI) in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI will host a “Violence Against Women and Human Rights Study Group” with regular seminars on the first Tuesday of each month. The featured presentation each month could be anything from a formal presentation through an informal discussion of a particular topic. The study group is open to anyone with a serious interest in pursuing and expanding knowledge on violence against women as a human rights problem.
