Slow and unconventional movements, shadowplay, and live music combine in a cross-cultural performance that draws on both the modern Japanese performance art of Butoh and the place-based writings of William Faulkner. Choreographer and dancer Oguri created this darkly evocative work. University of Illinois professor David Goodman, historian of Japanese theater, will introduce the performance.
