          About This Event

          Summary

          THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

The IAHI First Thursday Film Series theme for 2012-13 is “Listening to the City.”  Each of our featured films focuses on the relationship between urban infrastructures and human societies.  These films ask us to think about our roles as individuals in complex communities.  In doing so, they challenge us to grapple with some timeless questions.  What are our ethical responsibilities to others?  What makes a just society?  How do we balance our individual desires with our need to function within a group?  Do we determine our own fate?  What does it mean to be human?  Ranging from tragedy to comedy — from realism to science fiction to fantasy — these films are both thought-provoking and entertaining.  They are cinematic classics and a must see for film buffs and casual viewers alike.

The IUPUI Arts and Humanities Institute Film Series takes place on the first Thursday of every month.  Each film is accompanied by a short presentation which sets its context, identifies important themes, and explains its significance in the history of film.

Events are free and open to the public.  However, we request that you reserve your tickets online before the event.  Please bring your email confirmation as your ticket.
