Dr. Bute, Assistant Professor in Communication Studies and an expert in communication about issues of reproductive health, will discuss the ways in which private decisions and behaviors concerning reproduction are often treated as public information. At the same time, some reproductive issues are framed as taboo topics and are often absent from public conversations.
This presentation will explore tensions of public and private in a variety of health-related contexts, including infertility, adolescent pregnancy, and miscarriage.
Part of the Medical Humanities & Health Studies Seminar Series. Co-sponsord by the IU School of Medicine Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
