Over 100 IU School of Medicine students will provide home and lawn maintenance for 29 elderly, disabled and minority homeowners in the Haughville and Near Eastwide neighborhoods during this year's Spring House Calls from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
Check-in will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the Christamore House Family and Community Center. Projects will include removing weeds, planting flowers, mulching and other landscaping. Students will then close out the morning with a BBQ lunch for volunteers and homeowners from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Christamore House for a final chance to connect and celebrate.
This event marks the 18th year of the oldest service-learning project sponsored by the IU School of Medicine Office of Medical Service-Learning. This year’s student organizers are IUSM students: Ethan Morrical, Alice Cui, Braca Benizry and Meredith Faller.
All are welcome and encouraged to volunteer: students, faculty, friends and family .
