As a part of Indiana University School of Medicine's commitment to team science, Dr. Michelle Bennett, a national expert on collaboration in the sciences, will present this town hall meeting. Dr. Bennett will share best practices within team science, as well as offer her own experiences. She'll answer faculty questions and offer suggestions for building and maintaining effective teams. Topics addressed will include: developing agreements among scientific collaborators, team science in the P&T process, and how to evaluate individual members' contributions to team goals. About the Presenter:
L. Michelle Bennett, PhD is a Deputy Director of the Division of Intramural Research, a research program within the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NHLBI/NIH). She has responsibility for strategic planning, programmatic integration, and supporting the research performed in the program. Dr. Bennett has extensive background in promoting collaboration and team-based approaches by bringing together research scientists with diverse backgrounds and expertise to solve complex scientific problems. She is co-author of the award-winning publication, Collaboration and Team Science: A Field Guide. Dr. Bennett earned her Ph.D. in oncology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a certified executive coach, and supports individuals and teams in the attainment of their goals.
