The Second Annual Shave the Date benefit and awareness fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in the VanNuys Medical Science Building atrium.
This carnival-themed event will include “Pie your Professor”; head shaving; games and prizes (corn hole, Hoosier Pong, kids games, balloon darts); music and food, including cotton candy and snow cones. IU School of Medicine faculty, students and staff are welcome, as well as members of the local community.
This event is designed to raise awareness for the IU School of Medicine Class of 2014 the Annique Wilson-Weekes Scholarship of Excellence, as well as promote cancer awareness and local cancer organizations that assist patients locally. Wilson-Weekes was a member of the IU School of Medicine Class of 2014 who passed away from a rare stomach cancer after her first year of medical school in 2012.
Free parking for those without IUPUI passes is available for the event in the New Wishard Garage next to the VA Medical Center courtesy of the Wishard Safety Office. The free spaces are located on the third floor and above.
