          About This Event

          Summary

          Prudence Dalrymple, Ph.D.

          Research and Teaching Professor, Director of the Institute for Health Informatics, Drexel University

          Prudence W. Dalrymple received her Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where her research focused on a cognitive model of electronic database searching. In 2005, she was awarded a two-year National Library of Medicine Informatics training fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. While at Johns Hopkins, she focused on the dissemination of research evidence for improving clinical practice, looking specifically at the barriers and incentives for evidence-based medicine and guideline adoption.

          In addition to her career as a health information professional, she has been a member of the faculty at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and ay Dominican University where she was dean from 1997-2005. She directed the American Library Association Office for Accreditation from 1993-1997. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Phi Mu and a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

          She serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Information Science and Technology and represents Drexel's iSchool in the Academic Forum of the American Medical Informatics Association. She was president of the Association for Library and Information Science Education in 2001-2002 and was elected a member of the Council of the American Library Association. She is the author of numerous publications.
