          About This Event

          Summary

Presenter(s): Jodi Smith, MD, PhD, Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Riley Hospital for Children

Women have achieved significant accomplishments in medicine and science, yet comprise a relatively small proportion of faculty, especially at the highest ranks and positions of leadership. As a result, women faculty tend to have smaller professional networks than male colleagues and have fewer role models of success.

The Stepping Stones of Women in Leadership series is intended to create a forum where all faculty and students can learn about professional development through hearing the personal career journeys of successful women.

Please join us in honoring the career of Dr. Jodi Smith.

          About the Featured Guest:

Dr. Jodi Smith is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children. She received her Ph.D. in Anatomy at the University of Utah School of Medicine for her dissertation studies on “Neurulation.” She subsequently completed medical school and residency training in Neurological Surgery at the University of Utah, as well. Following residency, she completed the Shillito Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Special interests include pediatric epilepsy surgery, brain and spinal cord tumors, brain and spinal cord congenital malformations, hydrocephalus, myelodsyplasia, craniofacial disorders, and Moyamoya syndrome.

Sponsored by the IUSM Women's Advisory Council and the IUSM Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development.
